The portrait on the left was transformed into a zombie figure (on the right) in Adobe Photoshop through the use of layering, image manipulation, and brush blending techniques. I began to remove the original background to isolate original portrait and then added different visual elements on separate layers to build the zombie effect gradually.

Working in layers allowed me to edit each feature individually without permanently changing the original image, which also made it easier to adjust the placement, opacity, and overall composition.
To create the final look, I layered distorted facial features, darkened areas of the skin, and added dramatic details such as exaggerated eyes, damaged skin textures, and blood effects. I then used brush smoothing in yellow and blending techniques to soften harsh edges and help the added elements merge more naturally with the face. This made the transformation appear more cohesive rather than looking like separate pieces placed on top of one another. Overall, the editing process helped turn an ordinary portrait into a more stylised and dramatic zombie-inspired image, which gives me nightmares at night.
